Analytical chemistry is central to most ONC R&D projects - in addition to its importance in our regulatory, quality and process controls.

ONC's Analytical Chemistry (AC) Group characterizes new products, develops and validates product assays, identifies impurities and other trace components, identifies and quantifies compounds with sensorial impact, analyzes Omega-3 content of functional foods and studies oil stabilization.

Our AC group is also involved in designing new methods to develop innovative ONC food ingredients and nutraceuticals, focusing on analytic methodology.

The lab is equipped with the latest analytical instrumentation including gas-liquid chromatography (GLC) using a variety of detectors (GC/MS, FID, LC/MS, ELSD, FLD, RI, et. al.), odor sniffers (e.g. High Resolution Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry Olfactometry or GC-MS-O), and MALS (multi-angle light scattering) for measuring absolute molecular mass to determine Omega-3 potency.
